Osaze De Rosario joins York United - Was last in Ukraine with Rukh Lviv

York United have signed the son of former Canadian men's national team legend Dwayne De Rosario, Osaze De Rosario. York United confirmed the transfer on Wednesday. De Rosario is a free agent after his contract with Ukrainian Premier League side Rukh Lviv was terminated following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. 

"He’s had a very strange year having played in Ukraine and then coming to an agreement with his club to terminate his deal just nine days before Russia invaded," York United CEO Angus McNab said in a club statement. "This is a good opportunity for him and I think we’ll see him making a contribution pretty quickly given we’ll lose Lowell (Wright) for a couple of games now because of his Canada Under-20 call-up."

A former Toronto FC and New York City FC academy product, Osaze managed two appearances before the 2021/22 UPL season was interrupted by Russia's aggression. Transfermarkt understands that the 20-year-old has been training with York United for some time and impressed the staff at the Canadian Premier League club.
